चलिए जानते है कि दोहरी दृष्टि या द्विदृष्टि क्या है ‍(Double Vision in Hindi) – जब कोई व्यक्ति अपनी आँखों से किसी एक वस्तु को देखता है और उसे वह वस्तु दो वस्तु दिखाई देता हैं और वही व्यक्ति जब अपनी एक आंख से उस वस्तु को देखता है तो उसे एक वस्तु ही दिखाई देता है तो इसे दोहरी दृष्टि या द्विदृष्टि (Double Vision or Diplopia) कहा जाता है | सामान्यतः यह आँख की वह रोग है जिसमे एक वस्तु दो वस्तु दिखाई देता है |

What is Double Vision (Diplopia)

What is double vision or diplopia – When a person sees one object with his eyes and he sees that object two things and when the same person sees that object with one eye, then he If only one object is visible then it is called double vision or diplopia. Generally, when a person looks at one object, he sees only one object, which means that he does not have the disease of double vision or diplopia, but if one object sees two objects, then it means that He has a disease of double vision or diplopia.

सामान्यतः जब कोई व्यक्ति किसी एक वस्तु पर देखता है तो उसे एक वस्तु ही दिखाई देता है इसका अर्थ हुआ कि उसको दोहरी दृष्टि या द्विदृष्टि (Double Vision or Diplopia) की बीमारी नहीं है लेकिन यदि एक वस्तु दो वस्तु दिखता है तो इसका अर्थ है कि उसे दोहरी-दृष्टि या द्विदृष्टि (Double Vision or Diplopia) की बीमारी है |

दोहरीदृष्टि या द्वि-दृष्टि के कारण

चलिए जानते है कि द्वि-दृष्टि का कारण है दोनों आंख एक बिन्दु पर वस्तु का प्रतिबिंब नहीं बनाता हैं । व्यक्ति की दोनों आंख अलग-अलग बिन्दु पर फोकस करता है इसलिए व्यक्ति को एक वस्तु दो वस्तु दिखाई देता है । अब प्रश्न उठता है कि व्यक्ति की दोनों आँखें एक बिंदु पर फोकस क्यों नहीं करता है |

इसका कारण है कि व्यक्ति की दोनों आंख के movement का coordination सही नहीं होता है | व्यक्ति की आंख के इस movement coordination defect का कारण निम्नलिखित है |

1. Brain के नर्भ में गड़बड़ी होने से
2. मधुमेहजनित नर्भ की बीमारी होने से
3. रीढ़ की हड्डी में गड़बड़ी होने से
4. आँख में सूजन होने से
5. धमनीविस्फार होने से
6. गाँठ होने से

Causes for Double vision (Diplopia)

Let us know that the reason for double vision is that both the eyes do not form the image of the object at the same point. Both the eyes of a person focus on different points, so the person sees one object as like two objects. Now the question arises that why both the eyes of a person do not focus on one point. The reason for this is that the coordination of the movement of both the eyes of the person is not correct. Following is the reason for this movement coordination defect of the person’s eye.

• Due to disturbances in the nerve of the brain
• nerve disease caused by diabetes

व्यक्ति की Brain के कुछ खास Nerve होता है इसमें गड़बड़ी से द्विदृष्टि रोग होता है जिसका विवरण नीचे अंकित है –

1. नेत्र चक्रक तंत्रिका के आंशिक पक्षाघात के कारण होता है | नीचे की तरफ देखने से भी यदि एक वस्तु दो दिखाई देता है तो इसका कारण भी चक्रक तंत्रिका ही है |
2. Abducens nerve के पक्षाघात के कारण भी होता है | आंख की पुतली को मध्य से बाहर की तरफ ना ले जाना Abducens nerve की गड़बड़ी के कारण हो सकता है |

दोहरी दृष्टि या द्विदृष्टि (diplopia) के लक्षण – इस बीमारी का एक मात्र लक्षण है जो है – एक वस्तु दो वस्तु दिखाई देना

There is some special nerve of a person’s brain, due to disturbances in it, double vision disease is given, the details of which are given below –

• It is caused by partial paralysis of the trochlear nerve. If one object is visible even by looking down, then the reason for this is also the trochlear nerve.
• It is also caused due to paralysis of the abducens nerve. Not moving the pupil of the eye outwards from the middle may be due to a disturbance of the abducens nerve.

Symptoms of double vision or diplopia – There is only one symptom of this disease which is – seeing one object as like two objects

Double Vision (Diplopia) is a condition where a person sees two images of a single object. These images may appear side by side, on top of each other, or both. It can be temporary or permanent, and may affect one eye (monocular) or both eyes (binocular).

1. Monocular Diplopia

   • Occurs in only one eye

   • The double vision persists even if the other eye is closed

   • Often due to problems within the eye itself (e.g., lens, cornea)

2. Binocular Diplopia

   • Occurs only when both eyes are open

   • Disappears when one eye is closed

   • Usually caused by misalignment of the eyes

🔹 Monocular Diplopia Causes:

• Astigmatism

• Cataract

• Dry eyes

• Corneal abnormalities (e.g., keratoconus, scarring)

• Dislocated lens

🔹 Binocular Diplopia Causes:

• Strabismus (eye misalignment)

• Cranial nerve palsy (e.g., 3rd, 4th, or 6th nerve palsy)

• Graves’ disease (thyroid eye disease)

• Diabetes (affecting nerves)

• Stroke or brain tumor

• Myasthenia gravis (neuromuscular disorder)

• Head injury or trauma
