Common cold may be defined as viral infectious disease of upper respiratory tract wherein nose is the first organ that is affected by this disease first. Throat, sinus, larynx and lungs are the other organs of body that are affected with infectious viral disease called common cold. Sign and symptoms of this disease appear after two days of onset of this disorder. Coughing, sneezing, watery eyes, runny nose, pink eyes, headache and fever are the initial symptoms of this disease. If this disease is not treated on time it is converted to chronic asthma, bronchitis and pneumonia.

More than 200 viral strains are responsible for causing common cold in human beings. All the age groups are equally infected with this disorder of upper respiratory tract. There is nothing to do with gender in this disease; both male and female are equally affected with this disorder. Symptoms of this disease appear in two days and last for a week or 10 days.

Causes-

Rhinovirus is the major culprit that causes common cold in human beings. This virus enters in human body through mouth and nose and penetrates to other organs. Person who is sick with cold is one main mode of transmission of this virus. Virus is spread by the person in air in the form of droplet after coughing and sneezing by that affected person.
